Missy Marcus, President and Owner of mma professionalbookkeepingservices, llc has over 30 years of experience as a full-charge bookkeeper and has worked in every aspect and phase of bookkeeping and accounting. While traditionally her focus was working with architectural firms and construction companies, Missy has expanded her client base to include various other types of organizations, including 501(c)3 non-profit corporations, and numerous service and retail corporations. She has managed offices and accounting departments ranging in size from five employees to 50 in Architectural/Engineering firms and over 100 employees for Construction companies.

Missy designed and wrote her own accounting and payroll software before off-the-shelf versions were available. She has also setup and structured corporate software databases so as to allow for the smooth flowing expansion and growth to triple in size. As Corporate Treasurer of a charitable organization, Missy has also processed, prepared, and successfully been granted 501(c)(3) non-profit approval status from IRS.

Missy has been instrumental in coordinating the complete start-up of new companies, with one of her specialties being that she helps clients gain independence and knowledge through new software. She has seamlessly shifted companies from manual to fully functional computerized and automated operations, utilizing various software packages.

With an in-depth understanding of accounting procedures and tax ramifications, Missy Marcus’ experience includes Payroll and Payroll Tax Reporting, Sales Tax, Consumer’s Use Tax, 401(k) and Insurance Administration, Project Cost Budgeting, Contract Administration, Financial Statements through Trial Balance, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Cash Projections, and numerous customized bookkeeping services.

A Virginia native, Missy Marcus is also an active member of the Hampton Roads community. She is the volunteer corporate treasurer for a local charity, CANstruction Hampton Roads, Inc. and donates her bookkeeping services to WooHoo Sisters, a local non-profit organization. Missy is also the past treasurer of the Lynnhaven Business Association, and was responsible for organizing one of the largest single events in the LBA history. Missy lives in Virginia Beach with her husband and dog Ethel.
